Watch for symptoms excavator teams know too well: black smoke from incomplete combustion, misfires, or engine sputtering heavy machinery under load. Preventing Injector Failure: Proactive Steps
The key to preventing injectors from failing is to be vigilant. Change out fuel filters every 250 to 500 hours or sooner if operating in a dusty environment by strictly following the manufacturer’s service intervals. Additionally, ensure your water separator is drained daily. The use of quality low sulfur diesel fuel and the addition of fuel stabilisers will help reduce water in your fuel. Implement dual filtration systems for additional peace of mind and to extend the service life of your Tier 4 or Stage V engine.
